Installing SharePoint 2013 CU patches faster.

Recently I happened to install the Service Pack 1 for SharePoint Server 2013.
The download resources were aroung 1.3 GB in size and I managed to start installing the update on the server. But I was really disappointed that the update took more than 7 hours on my server farm.

Then I started to investigate the reason for such a long installation and came across this useful blog and script, which really says it speeds up the installation by turning off few services temporarily facilitating a faster installation.

Why SharePoint updates takes 5 hours to intall ?

All steps in short
1) Download the updates into the same folder. C:\Scripts
2) Use the power shell script and save as a ps1 file. installer.ps1
3) Place ps1 file and installables in same folder.
4) Run ps1 file from powershell console.
5) Really installation is fast. !! wow.
